Why you should read All Other, Together.

The most extreme consequence of "othering" is the complete dehumanisation and utter devastation of one another.
To be certain of an identity based on man-made ideals creates an illusion of a self that relies on external confirmation. It clings to an idea of self in relation to what’s already familiar and, most often, what we hope is unchangeable—the solid structures, like a postcode. But all is illusion, and all changes. Daily micro-changes accumulate; with time, histories and civilisations are forgotten, becoming absolutely obsolete and eventually meaningless to those who will outlive us.
The more unsure we are of ourselves and our future, the more fearful we become of ‘others’. Knowing and celebrating who you are is what allows you to truly embrace others—and vice versa. It is a reciprocal interchange.
Another's difference does not define you.
That meeting with others—who are likely just as uncertain as you—is not a threat, but an invitation to engage with another soul. Honestly, what a privilege. And it's also a chance to reacquaint yourself with who you are, as you change with life.
Meet yourself through others.
From one 'other' to another,
Rose
P.S. All Other, Together is a children's picture book and a mini-masterpiece in the making, brought to life through my collaboration with seventeen unique artists. It calls on us to cherish what is uniquely individual and to celebrate what universally unites us. We need a live balance, one that ebbs and flows as it's shared and influenced by us all—to have grace for ourselves and for everyone else. Yes, everyone. Learn more here.
