Terrestrial Art: You Are the Song the Earth Is Humming

The Earth is alive and creative. You are an expression of the Earth's creativity. Your life is an opportunity to co-create with the Earth.

In astrology, we look to the planets and stars, assigning each their own meaning and significance. I often wonder about the significance of our current home planet, Earth. I thought it to be music—life as song, the music hummed by the Earth and its beings—each soul's frequency being sung as an unheard song of life, contributing a tune to a collective chorus carried through time.

The sound of water as it pours down as rain, as it freezes, or dances with the moon. The sound of laughter, language spoken aloud, the turning of a page in a book, a cry, an insult, or a kind word shared; the sounds of warfare, cities being constructed, machines in motion, etc.

Place a hand across your heart—feel its beat as the blood is carried through. Listen to the sound of footsteps as you walk through life day by day. Imagine the sound of growth as new plants sprout from the soil. Don't you just love the rustling of leaves as they play with the wind? Clouds form and disperse—what sounds does their motion make?

We look out to the stars and planets to learn about our past, to rediscover wisdom, and to gain insight into our future. I'd like to think that here, right now, on Earth, we exist as art.

Think of the saying "The earth without art is just eh." How true! Imagine what our human experience would be like without the process of creating or experiencing art. Look back over history. Would we still be here?
