Artistic expression is gaining access to yourself.
I love writing songs—or anything, really—and discovering my feelings and points of view. Like, oh, this is what I think. Interesting.
Without the process of songwriting, I might never have realized I’d fallen in love with my husband. I listened back to the lyrics, and they told me the truth of my heart.
Sitting down to write about a certain topic and finding the words drift into a new perspective, or reveal hidden truths and mental dynamics, is a feeling unparalleled.
It’s a way for me to access spaces within that continue to expand as I linger there.
I can breathe within my daydreams and see them form as sentences and echo as new sounds. What’s hidden is reflected back to me, and I get to meet myself through the process of creation.
What’s your way of accessing your soul? Painting, cooking, sport, music, mathematical equations, poetry, fashion, sitting with a tree, chatting with a loved one?
Blessed dreams, Rose.
